Welcome to Hound in the City!

My name is Joanne Parker and I established Hound in the City at the beginning of 2020. Prior to this exciting venture, I worked as a clinician & owned fine art galleries both for around 20 years in the UK and in South Africa. Dogs have become a very important part of my life, therefore I am acutely aware of how vital it is for us dog owners to find a reliable service which can help out on a regular basis or during holiday periods plus for emergencies.

Our Services

Hound in the City offers a small, bespoke service, which enables us to meet your dog's specific needs and normal routines. Prior to engagement, all dogs undergo an initial assessment trial and we carefully select dogs in advance to match temperament, health, age and agility to help ensure they get on well together.

Number of Dogs

Our priority consideration is the safety & wellbeing of dogs under our charge & to others plus adhering to local legislation which can currently differ between boroughs. I normally look after 4 dogs & occasionally 5-6 for short periods during our peak seasons. But then during which, employ an extra pair of hands!

Where We Walk

Rural London has some great parks and woods where we love to visit. However equally, we often also enjoy venturing out of town for day trips to Nature Reserves for exciting adventures, following trails across meadows & through ancient woodland on the Kent & Surrey borders. Plus trips to the West Sussex coast at low tide - walking for miles across sandy beaches.

Day Care & Overnight Boarding

In between walks, your dog will be in a home environment, a spacious Victorian property with a fully fenced 70ft garden. Joining our young, male Wire Haired Fox Terrier, Lütje.

During the day your dog will have 24/7 companionship, lots of play, love and attention plus time to nap and relax in equal measure. Daycare & boarding risks being an over stimulating experience, therefore structured rest periods are encouraged for all our guests.

Boot Camp!

Hound in the City provides a safe & conducive setting to help your dogs relax and build on basic obedience training & commands, includes: polite greetings, walking to heel, recall, prey drive (chasing) & reactivity, which is often due to fear & anxiety. The dogs learn through each other in the pack, when there are positive role models & us ensuring a calm environment for them. At all times we embrace a positive reinforcement model to assist with learning & to encourage healthy changes in their behaviour.
